The work was done by SJ Quick and Sons of Hayle, who are a respected local firm, members of the National Federation of Builders. They do a lot of work for Trinity House on lighthouses, and on historic and listed buildings. Sam Quick oversaw the contract and his three sons all worked on the site.

Seabirds House - under reconstructionROOF
The roof has been completely renewed using natural slate, a silvery colour which is traditional in Cornwall.

WALLS
The external walls are granite - 2 feet thick. So we're leaving them where they are ...

WINDOWS
All windows were renewed by CTG windows of Hayle, Cornwall. Where appropriate these are UPVC double glazed vertical sliding sashes with vertical bars. These will help restore the character of the original building - and they're draftproof and easy to clean from the inside.

SERVICES
All flats have full gas central heating supplied from combi boilers in the kitchens. Those flats which have baths also have thermostatically controlled mixer valve showers over the baths, and glass shower screens. Plumbing, drainage, electricity and gas supplies have all been renewed. There is an intercom system from the front door to the 4 flats in the main building.

PARKING
The house has a garage and two off street parking spaces. The parking spaces are normally allocated to the two larger flats - 1 and 4. The garage is available first come, first served. There is a Pay and Display public carpark immediately behind the house.
